JUNIOR CLASS POLICIES
You can register for our junior tennis classes in person, over the phone at 612.252.8367 or online via Club Automation. If you are opening a new account, you must purchase a patron membership before you can view and sign up for classes. NOTE: If you are registering for drop-in match-days, you can't do so online; call us at 612.252.8367 ext. 0.
Players need a Junior Patron Membership or a family membership to sign up for our junior tennis classes. The $50 junior fee is valid for a year from purchase.
Classes must be registered for and paid in advance. Your payment secures a spot in a class. Junior tennis class fees can be added to a patron's house account only if a patron membership has been purchased, a valid credit card is on file and all outstanding balances have been paid.
All players must sign a waiver before they step onto our tennis courts. You will be able to sign the waiver when you register on-line.
If a class is full, Club Automation will say "Please call." If you continue with registration anyway, your player will be placed on a waiting list. You will be contacted in order of registration if there is an opening.
New players registering for our junior tennis program may need to be evaluated. Evaluations are only for new players or players who have missed/took off a session. Email Clay Sollenberger with a detailed background (age/grade, tennis background, school, etc.) to see whether an evaluation is necessary: email@example.com Players in current sessions will be approached by coaches for any evaluation needed.
Players will be approached by a member of the teaching staff when a move to the next class is warranted. If this does not happen, register for your current class. Parents are asked to respect this process and to not make requests regarding class placement.
Make-ups and Refunds
No make-ups will be offered for any reason, with the exception of religious holidays and medical emergencies with a doctor's note to Reid Olsen at firstname.lastname@example.org
If a player has stayed home from school due to an illness, he/she is asked to stay home from tennis class as well. This will help protect our patrons and staff from contagious illnesses.
Refunds will be issued only if a student cancels at least seven days prior to the start of registered classes. No refunds will be given if cancellation is made within seven days of the start of classes.
In an effort to make our junior tennis program accessible to everyone, we do offer scholarships to youth tennis players who qualify (scholarship recipients must be willing to volunteer at FWTEC). For more information about this, check out our scholarship page or email Clay at email@example.com. To apply, download our Scholarship Application and our Volunteer Application and send them to: Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center ATT: Scholarship Committee, 100 Federal Drive St. Paul, MN 55111. Scholarship applications are due two weeks after registration opens.

WHAT IS 10&UNDER TENNIS?
10 & under Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning and playing youth tennis. It is designed to bring kids to the game by utilizing smaller racquets, slower and lighter balls, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to the age and size of the child. Whittling the game down to their size helps make the learning process easier and a lot more fun, and speeds up development.
Tennis instruction in 10& Under will be play-based and focused around building the skills needed to maintain a rally. Strategy and stroke development are introduced in real-time as coaches guide them through playing the game. As players grow into their skills, the game is modified to keep them engaged and challenged at the appropriate level.
To get a better understanding of our approach to youth tennis player development for our “Stars” programs, check out USTA's Ten & Under Tennis site or the International Tennis Federation's Tennis 10's.
