At Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, we believe in youth. We believe that they have more insight and foresight than many adults give them credit for. We believe they can have conversations about big issues—like race, poverty and identity—and that those conversations will help them become better leaders. That's where Boys and Girls Leadership Teams come in.
Boys Leadership Team is an evening program for 6th-12th grade boys which centers tennis as a tool to teach character-building lessons. On-court, participants strive to better themselves as athletes and competitors. Off-court, they work together to plan service projects and discuss relevant issues like race, gender and identity.
Boys Leadership Team currently meets Mondays from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. For more information or to sign up, please contact Education Coordinator Johnny Yang at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Girls Leadership Team is a weekend program for high-school age tennis players that fosters their development on and off the court. On-court, participants strive to better themselves as athletes and competitors. Off-court, they work together to train physically and mentally, participate in service projects, and explore relevant issues like race, gender and identity.
GLT runs Sundays from 2:30 - 4:30pm, from February 28 - May 30. We are currently accepting registrants. To sign up, please contact Education Assistant Alexa Lehman at email@example.com or 612.859.1775.
